This is my most "famous" photo. During a photo exhibition that took place last year, it was the image that received the most positive feedback, and some friends have even honored me by buying it and placing it at their homes or working places. It shows a child cooling against a waterfall-like wall.
It was a warm night of an even warmer day, first days of July 2010. It was my last night in Yerevan, and I remembered the bus driver telling us, that "it's nice at the Republic Square at night, because there is a fountain"
So I went just to realize that hundreds of people were actually enjoying themselves with the classical music that was playing through the open air speakers, synchronized with the water springs and colorful laser lights.
So in this part of world, it makes sense, there is no beach you see. But there are central squares with fountains and warm people.
I just read at Wikipedia: "The Republic Square is the place where ceremonies and meetings are held. The statue of Lenin used to be located in the southern forehead of the square, but when Armenia regained its independence, the statue was brought down and replaced with a large TV monitor."
Just some moments before the mighty storm started, signifying its appearance by extremely low black clouds, lightnings, and really close explosions of thunder.
Being high above the ground enhances the feeling of being in the eye of the storm.
Back from work today and flat mate no.1 is already sleeping on the balcony sofa…The frappé on the table is evidence of an effort to stay awake and do some reading, but apparently the energy-steeling summer breeze had different plans.
Most people that don’t live in Greece and at some point come here as tourists during the summer, especially the ones who come from the northern ‘corners’ of the globe, go back home reminiscing the lovely weather, the sun, blah blah blah…
You people don’t realize that it is not exactly the case for us. Trust me! It can be really frustrating having to go to work when the weather is THAT warm. And even more, you have to count days for the two lousy weeks of vacation that you’ll get…if you’re lucky…
This is a typical thing that you come across during the plenty concerts that take place in Athens, especially during June. You just stand in the audience and listen to the musicians yapping about the great weather here in Greece…
Enough with the complaining and straight to the point. This summer, among other interesting gigs I was lucky to watch, I went to a 2-day festival that has been taking place in Athens for the last few summers. This year Ejekt festival was held in the old Athens Airport in Elliniko.
I tried to do my best in taking some pictures, but I bet you know how difficult that can be if you are stuck in a jumping crowd…So there we go!
All those bugs buzzin' 'round your head Well, they fly in the air as you comb your hair And the summertime will make you itch the mosquito bites The buzz of love is busy buggin' you Well, they fly in the air as you comb your hair And they're splattered up and down your windshield and the headlights
Well, they bite Yeah, they bite But you can tell they're there
Does love buzz because that's what it does? Well, they fly in the air as you comb your hair And the summertime will make you itch the mosquito bites
Well, they fly in the air as you comb your hair And they're splattered up and down your windshield and the headlights
Fly in the air, comb your hair Flies in the air, comb your hair
