Bulgaria Chapter II: Plovdiv for a day

All you need to do is go to the central bus station in Sofia, hop in a bus and in a couple of hours you find yourself strolling around in a very old, interesting and pretty town. Plovdiv (a.k.a Philippoupolis) was a very pleasant escape from all that snow and frost in Sofia. Check it out!

Nice?

Bulgaria, Chapter I: Sophistication, sofistication, snowphistication

Was it cold in Bulgaria? You bet it was! However, the half-brave, half-crazy, globe-trotting contributors of foto aparat always get the job done! So...I’m sorry for the 3 month delay and I hope you enjoy the sites, faces and oddities that my frozen fingers and eyes managed to capture in Sofia.

Well...we’ve got snow on lions and dogs, roofs and churches, parks, shoes and paths. But in order to get in the present mood and to honour a previous post....

..spring always rests quietly and waits for its turn!

While in Fukushima...

the fear of a meltdown is growing

Greece still relies on "safer" forms of energy like the power plants of Ptolemaida that burn lignite

whose gas emissions have been killing people for decades (link in Greek) in a much more discreet manner.

The beneficial influence of non reality

The beneficial influence of non reality is an art project by two close friends of mine, Spiridoula Zachou and Vasilis Avdelas.

Spiridoula paints, while Vasilis writes music. The video above is a small teaser for their exhibition that will take place in Thessaloniki next week.

For the non Greek speaking, Spiridoula is briefly explaining her technique, using some art jargon that I am rather incapable to translate in English.

However, I think it's the imagery and the music that matter, and words only come second. Enjoy!
